York Maine Hotels
Find The Right Place For You
Choices for York Maine hotels and other lodging are plentiful. Do you want to be right on the beach, near the harbor or close to the village? Are you looking for upscale with lots of amenities or a mom and pop establishment? Do you prefer the charm and hominess of a York Maine Bed and Breakfast Inn?
You can find this and more in York Beach Maine.
There are a few distinct areas of town that you could choose to stay in when looking for York Maine hotels - Short Sands beach area, Long Sands beach area and the York Harbor area. All have their unique benefits and nothing is very far away, so even if you choose the harbor, it's a quick and easy drive (more traffic in summer, of course) to the beach or to the village.
York Maine Hotels - Short Sands Beach Area
There are some good hotel choices here that put you right in the heart of the action. Remember, Short Sands beach is a small beach in a carnival like atmosphere with a zoo, bowling, arcade, playground, shops, restaurants and more around the immediate area.
Sands by the Sea at 15 Ocean Avenue is a nice hotel with a pool across from the Short Sands beach parking area. You can see the ocean from the hotel and many of the rooms. It is a family run hotel with clean rooms. It's a bit old and not fancy, but location is what you are paying for with this hotel. Prices run from $169-209 for a room in the summer and $269-399 for a suite. Beware if you like a soft bed, these are hard.
The Atlantic House at 2 Beach Street is also located right in the heart of the action at Short Sands. It is newly updated and has a very upscale restaurant called Blue Sky. They have some really nice features in the rooms like rainfall showers, fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, and beautiful kitchens in the suites. Rates here are quite high - $250-300 in the summer for a room, $425-475 for a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and $625-675 for a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. They can accommodate events for up to 150 people.
The Union Bluff Hotel at 8 Beach Street is a nice, older hotel which also has an upscale restaurant and a more casual pub. They have a large variety of rooms and suites in a few different buildings. Many of their rooms overlook the ocean, though you will pay more for the view. This is also a hotel that hosts large functions of up to 200 people. Peak season rates run from $129-399 depending on the room.
York Maine Hotels - Long Sands Beach Area
Wouldn't you just love to wake up to this beach each morning? Long Sands beach is one of my favorite beaches in Maine. With the Nubble Lighthouse out in the distance, it is a beautiful beach to lounge on. There are several hotels along the stretch - most located across the street from the beach.
The Cutty Sark Motel, 58 Long Beach Avenue, is located at the end of Long Sands Beach closest to the Nubble Lighthouse and Short Sands beach. The only hotel on the beach side of the street, it's a good location because you could walk to the Nubble and Short Sands if you enjoy long walks. It is a clean hotel, nothing fancy but the rooms provide awesome ocean views. They have a nice back yard to lounge on if you don't want to go down on the sand. Summer rates, depending on the room you choose, run from $165-265.
The Anchorage Inn on Long Beach Avenue is a large hotel with several pools, both indoor and outdoor, hot tubs, poolside cafe and restaurant across the street. It's a good choice with families since the beach and the pools are so convenient. Summer rates are approximately $200 for rooms and $300-400 for suites. It also is not a fancy or upscale hotel, but the amenities might make up for it if that is what you are looking for.
York Maine Hotels - York Harbor Area
The York Harbor area has its own special feel to it and some very nice places to stay. Here you will find one of the largest resort type hotels in York - The Stage Neck Inn at 8 Stage Neck Road. With a full service spa, indoor and outdoor pools, oceanview restaurant and its location right on Harbor Beach (where the locals go), you'll have everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Summer rates which include breakfast will run you the full range of the $300's to the low $400's.
In the same area as the Stage Neck Inn, is Edward's Harborside Inn at 7 Stage Neck Road. This is a lovely, relaxing, year-round bed and breakfast with beautiful grounds and nice views. Breakfast here is delicious. You'll enjoy some great walks from this B & B up on the Cliff Path or around the harbor. Rooms are $220 and suites are $300 in peak season (July, August and holidays), cheaper during other times of the year.
The Inn at Tanglewood Hall at 611 York Street is a beautifully appointed Victorian bed and breakfast inn where the owners, Andy and Sue, get all the details just right. You'll find yourself wishing you could stay longer after a night's sleep in a oh-so-comfortable bed and a mouth-watering breakfast. Summer rates here are $165-235 depending on the room, and are worth it if you love historic B & B's!
There are many, many more York Maine hotels - I've just covered some of the best here. No matter your budget or preferences, you can find a wonderful place to stay for your York Beach Maine vacation. Enjoy the sun, the surf, the white sand and so much more in this great coastal area. Take a day trip into Ogunquit, for sure, as well as Kennebunkport and even Portland Maine. There's so much to do in the area, you'll wish your vacation would never end!
