Great Breakfasts To Start Your Day

Bar Harbor restaurants provide much to choose from for that first meal of the day - breakfast. Luckily, there are some notable places that repeatedly garner rave reviews, attracting locals and tourists alike.

Bar Harbor Restaurants - Jeannies

While we were last in Bar Harbor, we chose Jeannie's for the "Great Maine Breakfast". This restaurant is bright and inviting. We arrived early, not wanting to endure any kind of wait with four young kids in tow and got right in. By eight o'clock, though, the restaurant was packed.

Though a bit on the pricey side, we were thoroughly impressed with Jeannie's - we literally got our food in about 5 minutes (for a party of six!). Never have we had such quick service. We all enjoyed our food which ranged from pancakes and eggs benedict (more of a cheese sauce than a hollandaise unfortunately) to homefries and toast with their own homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. (If you're gluten free, you'll appreciate Jeannie's too - they are happy to accomodate!)

2 Cats

Bar Harbor Restaurants - 2 Cats

Another wildly popular breakfast restaurant is 2 Cats - go for breakfast or brunch, the same menu is served until 1 PM. Their homemade biscuits with strawberry butter keep people coming back again and again. 2 Cats is very busy and you will likely have to wait, but the food is great and the service is friendly. It's a very kid friendly restaurant too!

Do you just LOVE a great croissant for breakfast?

Bar Harbor Restaurants - Morning Glory Bakery

If so, be sure to stop into the Morning Glory Bakery for that and much, much more. Also wildly busy in the morning (I camped outside the door 10 minutes before they opened to make sure I could quickly get in and back to the hotel with goodies for my waiting family), the bakery has a few small tables and some chairs to sit outside, drinking in the intoxicating aromas. Morning Glory Bakery is also a great place to pick up food to pack up and take into Acadia National Park for a picnic.

Cafe This Way

Bar Harbor Restaurants - Cafe This Way

Though we only ate at Cafe This Way for dinner (which was outstanding, by the way), it is one of the Bar Harbor restaurants that is well loved for for breakfast too. It's menu is unique and the food is delicious (and vegetarian friendly too). You'll find lots of benedicts and omelettes to choose from, and it's hard to pass up the wonderful Maine blueberry pancakes.

Busy, busy, busy in the morning, get there early if you want less of a wait. The restaurant does have its own parking lot, which is nice and convenient though it's pretty easy to park in Bar Harbor early in the morning. Help yourself to coffee while you wait, you'll be glad you did.

Jordan's Restaurant

For a hearty breakfast that is reasonably priced, try Jordan's. A diner atmosphere where lots of locals as well tourists gather to enjoy a great breakfast at a good price. You'll feel welcomed by the friendly staff and enjoy your basic breakfast items - notably the blueberry pancakes and muffins.

So if you're in town and need some place to grab a great breakfast, give these places a try. I think you'll agree that they are some of the best breakfast restaurants anywhere in Maine!
